We bring people together sharing unmatched driving experiences fueling our passion
HIPWIR EXPLAINED
During all our Scuderia Hanseat courses you will get plenty of great driving and you can look forward to develop your FLOW, RHYTHM and MOMENTUM.
But we also like to guide you off-track on how to get more out of your driving sessions and how to STAY SAFE.
For us as enthusiastic trackday drivers, we need to stay safe when we explore ways to improve our driving skill. Thinking about strategies on how to stay safe is not something you do while driving on the track. We believe that establishing a mindset that can promote your driver development is an important ingredient that will guide and influence your risktaking and help you stay safe during your driving sessions. The less experience you have, the more important the mindset is.
Based on our own experience we have summed up a few things what we believe is worth thinking of. It is a part of our HIPWIR thinking and it stands for - How to Improve Pace Without Increasing Risk. Here are six things well worth thinking of to help you established a balanced mindset ahead of your driving sessions.
1. UNDERSTAND RISK
Don't take risks you don't understand.
You have to know how BALLS, SKILL, EXPERIENCE and LUCK work in your favor, not the opposite.
Relying on BALLS and LUCK alone wont make a great day at the track ...
2. THE JOURNEY VS. GOALS
Enjoy your current level of driving regardless of what ambitions you have for the future.
It´s all about a lifelong journey and passion for your track driving, not about your short-term goals. Stay curious and openminded and momentum and pace will come by itself. Don’t chase speed or lap times.
3. STAY REALISTIC
The sooner you realize that no matter how good you think you are, there is an infinite number of faster drivers ahead of you. You drive at your pace, others drive at theirs. If you knew how improve your pace, you already would have. Time is on your side. We will guide and inspire you and elevate your level of knowledge and understading. You will improve over time .
4. THINK AHEAD
Think about where don't want to end up?
Before driving, always remind yourself how wonderful it is to come home with your car in one piece and with new positive insights after having experienced another "Nürburgring chapter".
Focus on the felling of longing to come back to NBR as opposed to taking care of a crashed car or worse.
5. EQUIPMENT & CAR
Have all your gear in good order. Especially the NBR is very fast so focus on a safe car and good protective equipment.
The NBR is the wrong place to save money on safety or driving with a car that is not in a really good condition.
6. TIMING & LAP TIMES
Don’t use visible timing while you drive.
Use your GoPro or other equipment to, afterwards, analyze to better understand your driving and how to practice in a safe way.
When on track, visible timing brings out poor judgement and have a very bad effect on balanced risk-taking. Not a sensible thing and not allowed at the Scuderia Hanseat.
